New Laws – Happy New Legal Year

Well, here we are, a dozen years into the new century. Y2K is but a silly memory and people still say “the more things change the more they stay the same”. Not necessarily when it comes to the law.

California has introduced a myriad of new laws, some 760 of them but we’ll only delve into those dealing with traffic and there are a few. This will be a busy year… with political elections on the horizon and a few changes in the firm (good ones) and the scheduled “end of the world” later this year. More on that later, when we touch base with our Mayan contact.

Let’s briefly review some of the “titles” of these new laws and in the coming weeks we can go over the details. Many of us will not be affected at all by these new laws but those of you who have small children will want to pay attention to the new height and weight limitations for car seats.

DUI checkpoints, reckless driving and crossing double white lines are also prominently featured in the collection of new laws issued by the state.

If you drive an electric vehicle make sure you’re “plugged in” when parked in an EV parking spot or face towing. And if you like using your vehicle as a roving billboard there’s something in there for you as well.

Well… let’s keep this short and begin the year on a positive note. We hope not to have to hear from you at all in the next twelve months and I mean that in the nicest possible way but if you do need an attorney to get you out of a serious traffic related jam, we’re here to help.

Keep in touch.
